Taylor grabs best finish of 4th in Duel at Mohave
Jeff Taylor continued his November swing through Arizona over the weekend at Mohave Valley Raceway. Competing among an average of 60 cars in the IMCA Modified class each night, Taylor collected one top-five finish during the inaugural running of The Duel at Mohave event.
When racing got underway on Thursday at the 1/3-mile oval, Taylor steered his No. 5 Modified from 10th to fourth in his heat race. He then nabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his B-Main to move into the night’s feature. He started 21st and finished 12th in the 25-lapper.
On Friday, Taylor was involved in an accident in turn one early in his heat and was unable to finish due to damage. However, he charged from 13th to second in his B-Main, putting him 11th on the grid to begin the 25-lap feature race. He climbed to a fourth-place result, finishing behind Kollin Hibdon, Johnny Torres and Austin Kuehl. Jake Pike rounded out the top five.
Saturday’s $7,777-to-win finale was rained out.
