Taylor opens season with Clash on the Coast
To lift the lid on his 2025 campaign, Jeff Taylor raced in a week’s worth of $1,000-to-win IMCA Modified shows as part of the Clash on the Coast miniseries in Florida and Alabama.
On the final Monday in February, competition got underway with 59 Modifieds in the pits at Northwest Florida Speedway, a quarter-mile track in the Sunshine State town of Baker. Taylor drove his No. 5 car from 10th to fifth in his heat race, then steered from third to victory in his B-Main. He started 19th in the 25-lap feature and came home in 16th position.
The next night, 54 Modifieds took on the second night of action at Northwest Florida Speedway. Taylor came home seventh in his heat but did not start his consolation race or the 25-lap main event.
After two days off, the Clash on the Coast roared to life again on Friday at the 3/8-mile Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama.
Taylor raced among 55 IMCA Modifieds at the track on Friday evening. He finished ninth in his heat, but charged from 12th to finish third in his B-Main. However, he missed a transfer into the night’s 25-lap feature by just one position.
On Saturday, the first day of March, 51 Modifieds descended on Deep South Speedway for the Clash on the Coast finale. Taylor turned in a fifth-to-second effort in his heat race, putting him eighth on the grid to start the main event. He climbed two spots in the 25-lapper and came home sixth, his best finish of the week.
