Pair of top-5 finishes for Taylor at CAR
From Friday through Sunday, Jeff Taylor took on the Modified division in The Showdown at Central Arizona Raceway (CAR) and scored multiple top-five results.
When competition kicked off on Friday, Taylor’s Rage Chassis No. 5 Modified was among 30 entered at the 3/8-mile oval in Casa Grande, Arizona. Taylor steered from seventh to third in his heat race, positioning him sixth to begin the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win feature. He took the checkered flag in the third spot, but was disqualified for not using mufflers as he thought they were built into the headers.
On Saturday, 32 Modifieds were at CAR for another $1,000-to-win program. Taylor grabbed third in his heat for the second consecutive night and started 11th in the 25-lap A-Main. He climbed through the field to finish third behind Cole Czarneski and Luke Silber. Taylor was also locked into the following day’s $3,000-to-win finale thanks to his Saturday performance.
On Sunday, Taylor was one of 24 Modified drivers on hand for the final day of The Showdown. After finishing seventh in the dash race, he started the 30-lap main event from that position. He advanced three spots and came home fourth, chasing Kollin Hibdon, Czarneski and Austin Kuehl across the start-finish line. Braxton Yeager rounded out the top five.
