Taylor notches pair of top-5 finishes in the Sooner State
Jeff Taylor took on two Oklahoma tracks over the weekend and posted strong results at each, claiming no finish worse than fourth.
On Friday, the driver known as “The Animal” was part of a 22-car All-American Outlaw Modified field at the 1/3-mile Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Oklahoma. Taylor drove his No. 14 Modfied to the third-quickest time in qualifying and also took third in his heat race. He began the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature from the ninth position and picked up five spots to finish fourth. He trailed Tyler Wolff, Kyle Slader and Drake Findley at the start-finish line, with Jared Russell coming home fifth.
The next night, Taylor piloted his Skyway Auto Group No. 5 IMCA Modified in a 21-car weekly program at Ardmore, Oklahoma’s Southern Oklahoma Speedway. He drove from sixth to take the checkered flag in his heat on the 3/8-mile oval, then started 10th in the 20-lap A-Main. He advanced seven spots in the race and finished third behind Michael Ables and William Gould. Kaleb Emerson and Tyler Butler, were fourth and fifth, respectively.
